Playa del Carmen and Hurricane IsidoreLatitude 20.62315°N Longitude 87.07367°W Sunday, September 22, 2002 Diary:Hurricane Isidore was in full swing this morning and had just gotten
promoted to a Class 4 storm. It had started moving northwards towards
Florida which was good news for us (but probably not for them). Thankfully
there was no rain but the wind was a force to be reckoned with. The seas
were wild. Isidore is the first hurricane to hit Playa del Carmen in 7
years; our luck rules yet again.
We went to supermarket, bank, and ate tostadas by the embarcadero for
lunch. Afterwards wandered around town looking for a good Italian
restaurant for dinner tonight, a laundry, good internet cafe, Scuba school
for Keiko, etc. Spent an hour in an arts & crafts shop looking at Mexican
string & bead arts & rugs. That was fun. (not).
The hurricane kept blowing all afternoon and into the night and we had
a very simple and casual dinner at Bistro Canela before returning to our
room and calling it a (stormy) night.
