Diary:

We awoke to a perfectly sunny, warm, blue sky day. This was a rarity that deserved special dispensation. So we all decided to take a day cruise around Resurrection Bay with Renown Tours to check out the wildlife and the most active glacier in those parts, Holgate Glacier.

The tour was great. We got up close to harbor seals, sea lions, puffins, two large pods of orca killer whales (which swam right under our boat), and a humpback whale (which was very shy and didn't let us get too close). In the afternoon we visited the Holgate Glacier, but it too was in a quiet mood that day and didn't do any spectacular calving for us.

After the cruise, Keiko and I visited the Alaska Sealife Center, a musuem dedicated to marine research in the area.

We cooked dinner at the campsite, had a bottle of wine with Lynsey and Arnoud, built a campfire and toasted marshmallows. Thus ended a very satisfying day.
